Even though I absolutely love sewing winter clothes I hardly ever get a chance to create something that can keep me warm during the cold winter months. The reason behind it is that I don't need any super warm clothes now. But this year I finally got a chance to sew something cozy and elegant and it happened to be this Burda Easy jersey dress!
I'm not a big fan of strapped dresses. The look and feel of sleeves, even tiny cape ones, are much more appealing to me. But sometimes the print of your fabric doesn't leave you a choice but to pick an appropriate strapped dress pattern. This simplicity one is absolutely perfect for a classy look.
I was thinking of sewing a gingham dress for quite a long time but, surprisingly, I couldn't find an appropriate 100% cotton fabric. But as soon as I found one I picked it for my next project for Minerva Craft Blogger Network. Paired with McCalls 6696 pattern it was turned into a vintage style shirt dress.
I hardly ever use the same pattern twice, but sometimes I simply can't resist trying a particular style in in a new fabric. That's exactly what happened with this Burda Style dress that I made in cotton before and couldn't wait to replicate the original light weight design.
This month I decided to break all the rules with this Butterick 6413 pattern. It's seductive, revealing and not something you'll wear on a daily basis, but somehow it happened to be one of my favorite makes so far!
This month I decided to sew something really quick and easy. This Burda Style dress was the perfect choice!
For the last 6 months I've been a part of Minerva Crafts Blogger Network. Quite a milestone, isn't it? Sounds like the perfect time to look back at all of my projects so far.
Today I'm not going to share any new projects or tips. Instead of that I'm going to reveal something that's not any less exciting for me, which is my new Youtube channel!
Sometimes to get the garment of your dreams you have to combine a few patterns (if you don't want to create your own pattern, of course). Sometimes you have a dream garment in your mind, but not in your pattern collection. That's when you have no choice but to draft it yourself, or combine a couple of patterns. I've chosen the second option for my floral 50s style shirt dress.
This month I decided to sew something more glamorous and evening appropriate. But, obviously, still retro style. In my opinion a nice cocktail dress should be sewn out of a good quality fabric, have an interesting design and something extra you won’t usually add to a day dress. For example, a lace trim. A combination of all those components resulted in this polka dot garment.
